HISTORY

Operations begin in the first manufacturing steel profiles plant in Mexico. During the first years, the company focused on the production of chicken coops fences due to the poultry peak in the region.

In this same year, the first line for door and window frames was introduced into the Mexican market.

Originally the elaboration of the steel profiles were manufactured with pressed steel; the production levels during this period reached the 84,000 tons annually.

Due to the growing demand, new machinery was acquired bringing a technological change that would transform the production rhythm of the company: the elaboration of rolled profiles.

In 1987 the first roll painting line was acquired with the purpose of preventing steel rusting, making a difference in the market. In the same period, PROLAMSA enters the American market, offering structural pipes and purlins.

Escobedo Plant is opened in Nuevo Leon, Mexico (900,000 sq ft) with the most modern equipment in Latin America; considered today the leader in structural and mechanic steel pipes.

Laredo Plant (85,000 sq ft) begins operations in Texas, to serve the American market.

During this period, Prolamsa established new systems to control production and quality, obtaining the ISO 9001:2008 Quality System Certification.

PROLAMSA acquires high-technology equipment to attend high market requirements.

Aceros Cuatro Caminos, a factory specialized in steel pipes for the industrial and automotive segments, is incorporated to the Group.

Axis Pipe and Tube became part of Prolamsa Group. This new state of the art steel mill (550,000 sq ft) manufactures OCTG products for the Oil and Gas Industry. Axis Pipe and Tube is located at the Texas Triangle Park in Bryan, Tx.

Prolamsa Group establishes a joint-venture with JFE Shoji and Sankin Corporation, in order to manufacture Cold Drawn Tube.

This new company is located at Propark in Pesquería, Nuevo León, Mx. And will be specialized on the production of Cold Drawn Tube for the automotive industry.
