History

Prolamsa is a privately-owned company. It began operating in 1954 as a manufacturer of metal shapes for doors and windows. Soon the company started to fabricate other products, and in 1961 began producing steel tubular shapes, which became the core of the firm’s business.

In recent years, the company has been involved in a series of major capital investment programs. In 2001, it opened a new state-of-the-art facility in Escobedo, just outside Monterrey. The plant has been expanded to nearly 1,200,000 square-feet. As the company expanded its facilities, it also began to invest in world-class technology and systems. Among its investments, Prolamsa has added new laboratory and control systems to ensure its products are produced to exacting customer specifications. Today, the company conforms to ASTM standards and has earned ISO 9001 Certification.
